Meetings and other events

The Society holds monthly meetings from September to June, which include speakers on a range of topics of interest to family historians. The meetings also provide an opportunity for members to meet and discuss their research with others.

Meetings are normally on the 4th Tuesday in the month on Zoom, unless otherwise noted, and start at 7.30pm.

'Lost Aberystwyth' (25 Mar 2025)

A talk by Will Troughton, Photographic Collection Curator at the National Library of Wales on his latest book looking back on how Aberystwyth has changed over the last hundred years.

Venue: Yr Hwb - The Hub, Canolfan Cymunedol Penparcau Community Centre. Doors open 19:15

General Meeting (13 May 2025)

AGM followed by a research evening for members to discuss family history projects, research and share experiences and ideas for the future. We hope to see many current and new members, why not bring along a friend, have you hit a brickwall in your research? Do you want advice on where to go next with your research? No idea where to start please come along.

Strata Florida (24 Jun 2025)

A trip to Strata Florida where Kate Sullivan will explain the Metal Mines Oral History Project
2025-26. This will be followed by tea and cake and an opportunity to wander around the
exhibition and buildings to see the work carried out over the past few years since our last
